Corey A. Burton is a trombonist and private educator currently located in North Central Florida. He is working on a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Florida on a full assistantship. He received his Master of Music Degree with an emphasis in trombone from Oklahoma State University in 2022. Burton earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Performance from East Central University of Oklahoma in 2019. His teachers include Jemmie Robertson, Scott Wilson, Jose Valentino, Clyde Conner, Mark Wood, Paul Compton, Tommy Poole, Jace Vickers, Kirk Palmer, Rozzie Purdy, Vince Kenney, Steve Wright, and Rebecca Little. In addition to his musical studies, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Certification in Banking and Finance from East Central University in 2019.

An Oklahoma native, Corey has performed throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Florida, Canada, and Guatemala in many different settings and styes. He is a member of the University of Florida's Wind Symphony and Jazz Band, and two local Top 40 style bands in Gainesville: Raftus Brown and the Melrose Horns, and Swing Theory.  He has performed and taught with the Collective Chamber Orchestra in Guatemala City, Guatemala at the 2025 Festival Internacional la Centro, and has performed with the UF Trombone Choir at the 2025 International Trombone Festival in Ontario, Canada.  He has played at the 90.1FM WMBT Wombash Music Festival twice as a member of the 'What It Is', and has performed with the Gainesville Orchestra, ensembleSRQ in Sarasota, and with the Tampa Oratorio Singers.  He has recorded for a handful of different album projects available on Spotify and Apple Music.  Previously, he served as principal trombone in Oklahoma State University’s Jazz Orchestra and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Corey also performed with Oklahoma State University’s Trombone Octet and the Jazz Trombone Ensemble which won the 2022 International Trombone Association Kai Winding Competition. As a soloist, Corey placed first in the 2022 Hyechka Club of Tulsa Robert Heckman Instrumental Solo Competition. While a student at East Central University, he won the university concerto competition in both 2017 and 2018.

​In addition to performing, Corey also actively manages a private studio where he teaches students ranging in age and ability level. While his primary instrument is the trombone, he also is an accomplished guitarist, pianist, and music theorist and teaches lessons in those areas as well. Corey is actively pursuing performing and teaching opportunities in the Gainesville, FL area and is available for hire and contract other musicians for private events.
